Bio
My name is Chris Minor. I'm a printmaker from Edmonds, Washington. I'm self-taught and have been creating lino-cut prints since 2005. Being a carpenter/cabinetmaker, the printmaking medium was a good fit for me since being creative and using tools is a key component of both trades.
I first began showing my work in 2011. It all started when I entered three pieces in the juried art portion of the Edmonds Arts Festival. Two pieces sold and one was awarded 1st place in the prints category. It gave me confidence to keep trying to create new art and get it out there. In 2014 I was fortunate enough to get 1st place again at the festival. An interesting thing happened in early 2018 when some of my art was used on the set of the TV show "Criminal Minds". The set designer for the show happened to be in downtown Edmonds and came across a few pieces that were on display at an art supply store called Artspot. She liked them and ended up using four prints on the show! Some other local activities I participate in include teaching a class at Cole Art Gallery and opening up my home studio for the Edmonds Art Studio Tour. Edmonds has a thriving arts community and I enjoy being a small part of it. Finally, you should know that I try adding humor to my work whenever possible and enjoy watching people's reaction to it. Life's short, make some art!
